Artist Statement
A gatherer of the left-behind. Fabric scraps and cardboard, half finished jokes and stories untold.
Art comes in a shape, a color, a drawing, a play.
A body on stage under lights waiting for a joke to land in the sticky sweaty nervous night, yearning to connect.
And the room itself, a circle, a group, many voices leaning in.
People with their stories folding and unfolding, the untold stories hold us all captive.
We make things to make sense. A hand moves, shapes appear and the mind catches up.
I want to tend to the space between hand and knowing, turning towards a greater knowing, freeing hands till they dance with life.
In the letting go we gain it all.
To walk is to listen and I am listening, always listening, ever deeper.
